W. I. (Bill) Gumbiner
In 1964, Bill began his career in the demolition industry, when he joined Lipsett, Division of Luria Brothers, demolishing steel producing facilities for U.S. Steel in the Chicago region. Since 1974 (30+ yrs) Bill has held positions as senior corporate officer for five of ENR’S Top 10 demolition contractors. Bill has been invited guest demolition lecturer at Purdue University, Michigan State, Texas A&M, IRA (Investment Recovery Association), MCUC (Michigan Construction Users Conference), Power Generating Purchasing Conference.
Through out Bill’s 40 year career, Bill has mentored, developed or trained over 20 demolition industry professionals in marketing, estimating, project management, contract understanding, material handling skills and techniques. Of those Bill has mentored include three company owners, two regional managers for major contractors and 15+ project superintendents, estimators and marketing managers. L. H. (Les) Gumbiner Also, a native “Hoosier”, Les attended Ball State University (’65) (Delta Chi) BA Business Administration. Les began working summers as a laborer (“Gandy Dancer”) for EJ & E RR, removing and replacing RR track at the US Steel, Gary Works.
Les’ 40 year career has evolved from RR track laborer to hands on demolition activities including estimating, project management, and over-site of multi-million dollar corporate demolition operations.
Les has served as senior corporate officer for three of the ENR’S Top 10 demolition contractors. Les’s service to the demolition industry includes; 12 years service (’84-’92) on the Board of Directors of NADC, his tenure highlighted by NADC’S development of the associations “Safety Program” and tenure as convention chairman.
Les holds demolition licenses in CA, AZ, IL, Detroit, MI, Indianapolis, IN, and Philadelphia, PA. Certifications; ACM, 40 Hazwoper, 30HR OSHA, MSHA.
